Lent at Lakewood: Freed by Faith

Lent is the season of 40 days, not including Sundays, of preparation for the celebration of Easter. It is a time of repentance and renewal: A somber, serene season to reflect upon life and faith. You are invited to nourish your spirit with the rich offerings of this Lenten season.

Ash Wednesday – Feb. 22 at 7:00 p.m.
A beautiful service of repentance waterside, around a fire, at Jean Johnson’s
house. Bring a lawn chair if you can.

Sundays at 10:30 a.m.
Morning worship focusing on the Psalms in an atmosphere encouraging
reflection. Childcare provided.

Sundays at 6:30 p.m. Feb, 26, March 4, 11, 18, and 25
Oasis of Quiet. A time for reflection and prayer in the sanctuary

Praying the Psalms – Wednesdays Feb. 29, March 7, 14, 21, and 28 6:30- 7:30 p.m.
An opportunity led by Rev. Wells to explore the Psalms and see how they speak
to us and for us today. Please bring your Bible.

Palm Sunday – April 1 at 10:30 a.m.
The service begins outside around the cross as the palms are blessed.

Maundy Thursday – April 5 at 6:00 p.m.
Soup supper followed by a Service of Tennebrae and Communion at 7 p.m.

Good Friday – April 6
Noon – 3:00 p.m. The Sanctuary will be open for meditation and prayer.
7:00 p.m. Service sponsored by Pinellas Plus (area United Church of Christ
congregations) at Chapel on the Hill (12601 Park Boulevard, Seminole)

Easter – April 8
7:00 a.m. Sunrise Service with communion, outdoors, weather permitting
8:00 a.m. Easter Breakfast
10:30 a.m. Festival Service with communion and a harp soloist.
The Sanctuary adorned with the beauty of Easter flowers
11:30 a.m. Easter Egg Hunt for all children and refreshments outside
