Skyway LogoSKYWAY COMMUNITY MARKET: Please come and bring neighbors and friends. This Saturday, the church is launching the Skyway Community Market. It will be held Saturdays from 9-1. This is a wonderful initiative on many fronts: bringing the people of the community together, offering healthy food at reasonable prices, letting people know about the church, and generating income for the church. Many thanks to Christy Martin for her willingness to serve as coordinator of the market. To volunteer, please speak with Christy Martin or Melanie Moore. Also visit lakewooducc.org/market, the new page on the church’s website devoted entirely to the market. There are four documents that can be downloaded there. One is a flyer you can print out at home and put up in places that will allow you to do so. Give the vendor forms to people you know who might be interested in being vendors. Musicians are also needed. Special thanks to Sterling Wells for designing Skyway Community Market’s very own logo!

THUR, APR 24 Oxfam America Hunger Banquet: Thursday, April 24, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Fox Hall – Life isn’t fair – and neither is this. The Oxfam America Hunger Banquet is where your seat and your meal are determined by the luck of the draw. Just as in real life, some of us are born into relative prosperity and others into poverty. One in 7 people goes hungry. But hunger is not about too many people and too little food. Our rich and bountiful planet produces enough food to feed everyone on earth. Hunger is about power. Its roots lie in inequalities in access to resources. The results are illiteracy, poverty, war and the inability of families to grow or buy food. Few experiences bring to life these inequalities more powerfully than an Oxfam America Hunger Banquet. – See more at: http://bit.ly/1kMiEaS
