UPON THIS ROCK: THE MAGDALENE SPEAKS: In performance at two different venues this week, Upon This Rock strives to make flesh the woman who is called “The Apostle of the Apostles”-Mary, the Magdalene. Written and performed by award winning actor, Roxanne Fay, based on the author’s study of both historical and religious sources, the play travels outside the boundaries of the simple sketch offered in the New Testament and introduces a woman of substance and the subversive path that she ultimately chose. Performance at the Dali on Tuesday, May 27th at 7 p.m. http://thedali.org/event/performance-upon-rock-magdalene-speaks/2014-05-27/ and performances at the Studio @ 620 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday May 29, 30, and 31, 2014 at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday June 1, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. http://www.thestudioat620.org/events/upon-this-rock-the-magdalene-speaks.
FRI, MAY 30 BOOK CLUB: The May book selection, The Life List, by Lori Nelson Spielman, is a novel about Brett, who at age 34 must complete a “Bucket List” she wrote when she was 14 years old. In order to get her inheritance she must do this within one year. The story is unbelievable, but entertaining. The book club will meet Friday, May 30 at 12:30 in the fellowship hall. Please bring your own sandwich. Drinks and dessert will be provided by Vita Uth. Everyone is invited.
