|THIS SUNDAY IS WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY: Christians around the world celebrate communion and our common bond in Christ. The theme at LUCC will focus on immigrants and refugees. Aren’t we all in need of family and home? Everyone is welcome at LUCC and all are invited to participate in communion. This is an embodiment of the belief that in God, all people are part of one family. Gratitude is expressed to Janet Blair of the LUCC congregation for helping with the resources for this service. Janet is Community Liaison for Refugee Services for the SunCoast Region of the Department of Children & Families.
COMMUNION SUNDAY: The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday. All are welcome to participate in communion including children at the discretion of their parents or adults who brought them. The communion offering will be received. Funds from this offering are used to help with basic needs such as rent and utilities for people in the congregation as well as in the broader community. As you know, the need is great. Please make God’s love real with your gifts to the church and to the communion offering.
The theme for The BIG Event this year is Lakewood Base Camp: Mission Support. This event is a celebration of the many ways that LUCC supports mission and ministry of the church family all week. There will be several speakers from the church family sharing how LUCC inspires and supports them in their mission in the world. Base Camp provides hikers with supplies, information, support, and community for challenging and rewarding journeys. So LUCC is a community of support to all in their daily lives and in their service.
This celebration of the ministry of LUCC is a reminder of how much the church means to those involved and to the world. The BIG Event is an opportunity to make a pledge of financial resources, gifts, and talents, to support the mission of the church for the coming year. Be part of the team. Offer your support so that LUCC can continue to be a vibrant Base Camp of nurture and support for service and mission in the world as well as for life’s journey. Don’t miss it! Sunday morning Oct. 23 at 10:30 a.m. Refreshments and fellowship following the service. All welcome! Bring a guest or visitor. This is a great way to be introduced to LUCC!
REAPING THE HARVEST 2016: As part of the celebration of abundance this fall season, you are invited to fill out the “Reaping The Harvest 2016” form and bring it/send it/email it back to the church by Sunday, October 16th. The information will be compiled and reported back at The Big Event in November. The information will not be audited, round figures are fine. This is a way to celebrate the full ministry of this congregation in its many forms including, but not limited to, service within the church. The ministry of the church extends into society through our service and generosity 7 days a week, not just Sunday!!! There are forms at church or go to http://lakewooducc.org/2016/09/29/reaping-the-harvest-form-2016/
