Meeting an exoneree, an innocent person who has survived death row, makes the injustice and arbitrary cruelty of the death penalty urgently real.
Next Saturday, 25 death row exonerees and their familiesare coming to Tampa, along with national and state leaders in opposing the death penalty. This is a chance for the public to hear their stories and support their struggle to end the death penalty in the United States.
Witness to Innocence (WTI), the only national U.S. organization composed of and led by exonerated death row survivors, is meeting in Florida for the first time. WTI will meet at the Hilton Tampa Airport Westshore, 2225 N Lois Ave. Tampa FL beginning at 9:00 AM next Saturday,April 22nd (map and directions here). The WTI events are free. WTI works to abolish the death penalty by empowering exonerated death row survivors and their families to become effective leaders in the abolition movement.
