So I was just looking up the logistics I needed to go volunteer at Synod and when I went to the homepage for the Tampa Convention Center, they proudly announce that they are a non-union facility in a right to work state. Now I’m going to have to go all union on them.
Stand up for justice in St. Pete this week! Participate in 2 Awake the State rallies at the Vinoy downtown.
Thursday, June 30, 1:30-3, when the 3 main Republican candidates are holding a press conference, Awake the State will be there to let them know that they will be held accountable to the citizens of Florida, asking them to state their positions on many of the justice issues we care about.
On Friday, July 1, from 12:30-1:30, Awake the State will question Governor Rick Scott and US Senator Bill Nelson. Awake the State organizers, workers, and others will highlight the damaging impact of legislation to take effect July 1st. Speakers will talk about personal impact of legislation such as: Medicaid privatization, the gutting of growth management laws, the job-killing budget, and the new tax on public safety officers and public employees. http://cltampa.com/dailyloaf/archives/2011/06/28/activists-announce-plans-for-florida-press-association-event-in-st-petersburg
