Kyrie from Missa de Angelis

This is Hilton, the Music Director at Lakewood UCC. This post is part of a series of posts presenting music representative of what I and others do as part of services at Lakewood UCC.

Featured in this post, is a movement, Kyrie, from a piano suite of mine, Missa de Angelis. For this, and all music listened to on a computer, headphones are recommended.

Composed and performed (1995) by Hilton Kean Jones. The score is available at http://hiltonkeanjones.com/PDFs/Missa_de_Angelis.pdf/(PDF).

Be Part of the Pride Parade Saturday June 27!

All are welcome to be part of the United Church of Christ contingent walking in the Pride Parade on Saturday June 27, 2015 in St. Petersburg. There will definitely be a group from Lakewood UCC. For those who prefer, LUCC will have a car in the parade and riding is also a possibility.

The assembly area for the parade is the parking lot at 31st Street and 3rd Avenue N (2 blocks north of Main Post Office).

Parking in the area is at an extreme premium, especially the later it gets in the afternoon.

Suggested time of arrival is 6 pm. Parade organizers want participants to be “ready” by 7 pm and set to begin marching by sunset/8:15 pm — Hurry up and wait!

UCC churches will assemble in spot #160, which is supposed to be right off 3rd Avenue North.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes; perhaps sunscreen, a hat, or an umbrella (decorated?). Water is also suggested.

There will be some “props” and give-aways provided. Feel free to wear something crazy and wacky — have fun and stand out!

The route is about 15 blocks in length — that is one-way. The marching pace is on the slow side, with frequent stopping-and-going. At the end (21st and Central) you’re “free” to walk back to your car.

If the spirit moves you, you are invited to attend the first Interfaith PRIDE Worship service, which is being organized by Good Samaritan Church, a UCC/Presbyterian congregation in Pinellas Park. The service will be held on Saturday at 11 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 401 5th Street N, across from the Coliseum near downtown St. Pete.

There will be a street fest for Pride on Sunday June 28. The UCC will have a booth there.

For additional information, please contact LUCC Pride coordinators Earl Waters (watspiv@aol.com) or Melanie Moore (msmooremsmoore@gmail.com).
