Zoe and Olivia are having a great time at the National Youth Event. They will share their experiences this Sunday morning during the service!

At this morning’s service there was a poem-prayer by the author, Phil Porter: “Like a Thousand Red Birds.”

In anticipation of this poem-prayer, the Church School youth, under the direction of Melanie Moore, created decorations for the church (pictured above) of red birds in a mural, cutouts, and many tiny stone bird sculptures.

We are currently enjoying Summer Sundays at Lakewood. During the summer, nursery age through First Grade are welcome to go to the nursery during the service, but other kids stay in the service.

Church School for elementary age children will resume on Sunday, September 12.

Malcolm Wells will be going on a work camp with the youth group from Pass A Grille UCC Friday July 16. The group is going to volunteer in Midland, Michigan. Thanks to all from Lakewood who helped to sponsor Malcolm on the mission trip.
