LIGHTING THE PEACE CANDLE           Jim Andrews, Liturgist

Do not be satisfied until each one with whom you are concerned is to you like a member of your family. Regard each one either as a father, a brother,

or as a sister, or as a mother, or as a child.

‘Abdu’l-Baha, 1844-1921, Baha’i

* OPENING SENTENCES                 Huub Oosterhuis, b. 1933

What shall we say to you, our God —

                  You have called us

                  from far and near.

            You have made us —

            great and small,

            each one of us different

            in heart and face,

but all of us your people.

            We ask you, then,

            make new people of us

            who hear your voice

            with living hearts.
            Do this today

                  and never take your hands

Let us prepare ourselves for the word of God as it comes to us in the reading of Holy Scripture. Our hearts and minds are open.

            Psalm 139:1-18 and John 20:1-18

For the word of God in scripture, for the word of God among us, for the word of God within us. Thanks be to God.

MODERN READING
Ram Dass, 1931-2019

We are all just walking each other home.

REFLECTION               Coming Full Circle                        Claire Stiles

UNISON READING                                        Gaelic

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind be always at your back.

            May the sun shine warm upon your face;

the rains fall soft upon your fields

            And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of God’s hand.

            * Time of Dedication          Evelyn Frances Capel, 1911-2000

            In the singing of birds

Is the sound of God.

            In the swimming of fish

                  Is the power of God.

            In the moving of beasts

            Is the willing of God.

            In the heart of humankind

                  Is the dwelling of God.

In my heart and my head,

In my hands and my feet,

            God’s Spirit within me

Shall move and shall speak.  Amen.

* PREPARATION FOR PRAYER       I need you every hour  517

Eternal Spirit, Earth Maker, Pain-bearer, Life-giver,

Source of all that is and that ever shall be,

Father and Mother of all people,

Loving God in whom is heaven:

The hallowing of your name echo through the universe!

The way of your justice be followed

by all peoples of the world!

Your heavenly will be done by all created beings!

Your commonwealth of peace and freedom

sustain our hope and come on earth!

With the bread that we need for today, feed us.

In the hurts we absorb from one another, forgive us.

In times of temptation and testing, strengthen us.

From trials too great to endure, spare us.

From the grip of all that is evil, free us.

For you reign in the glory of the power that is love,

            now and forever.  Amen.

* BENEDICTION                                                            Celtic Prayer
